PostSubject: Fake Virus v.4.5 (NEW!)   May 14th 2011, 03:52

I don't know if any of you remember a trick I played on you all a while back involving a fake virus, but I'm in heavy development with it again, and this time it will be better than ever. It's currently (for released anyway) version 4.5. It will work on XP, but without full effect (shut down part). Vista it works great and 7 is currently untested at this time. I'm assuming it should work on it though. If anyone would like to confirm a shutdown with it would be greatly appreciated. This is for Windows only, and no minimum specs are necessary, as it will work on any computer.

I'm going to try and work in a shutdown for XP, but at this time XP is the only one not cooperating. It should work on 95, 98, 200 and such but without shutdown also. I doubt anyone uses those though.

Also, I am aware that the removal of one code line in this file will actually crash your computer, but I will not be careless and remove it, so no need to worry.

Next release will be this weekend.

At this point I'm not sure when I'm going to release a new version. Make sure when you download, to download both files, but only run the shortcut for the full effect.

Debating whether or not to compile it to an .exe. I seem to get more customization options without compiling it.

Known Issues:

XP isn't shutting down
XP runs extremely slow after closing program

Future Expectations/Wishlist:

Fix XP shut down issue
Faster
Ported to Linux/Ubuntu (Probably won't happen)

DOWNLOAD (Read instructions below):

Virus v.4.5

INSTRUCTIONS:

Download above.
Right click, create shortcut.
Go to RUN, click down arrow, hit maximized.
Go to OPTIONS TAB, hit LARGE, and FULL SCREEN
Go to COLORS, click screen font, select white, hit screen background, select blue.
APPLY
OK.
Run shortcut!

FAQ:

Q. It's running slow on my machine!
A. It's possible that your machine is a lower end machine, but it should still work regardless.

Q. Why does it always ask me to press a key to continue?
A. Because it has to be coded that way. If it isn't, it will run uncontrollably fast.

Q. How long did this take to make?
A. About 2 hours, but it wasn't vigialant. If i had already known what I was doing I could have had it done in 10 minutes.

Q. My computer doesn't shut down!!!
A. This is a known issue, I am working to take care of it.

Q. My computer runs extremely slow after running this!
Q. This is also a known issue. Right now there is no workaround.

I'm actually having fun with this.

The port to Linux will be availible at version 5.0 of the Windows version. It's in very early stages of development right now.

Cool. I'd try it, but as you said, it doesn't work properly on XP.

Also, that thing you can do with it to stop the computer booting afterward. Does that stop the whole computer or just the OS/HDD?

It works fine on XP, other than it doesn't shut down when it's finished running. Give it a try.

This stops the entire OS on the HDD. There's now way of accessing Windows to wipe the HDD. So essentially, your HDD is fried. There is other things I can do with it, but I'll explain with the next release of 4.6 this weekend. All 4.6 is is some text upgrades, but this version is in BETA stage still, and is likely to be 4.7 by weeks end. Likely being 98%.

That said, I'm actually excited to release on Saturday. Even though it's minor updates, this is nearing completion. I'm going to find some excuses to work it to a final 5.0 and maybe clean up the code after 4.9.

This code can be run with mods to destroy ones computer, as the basic code I wrote up and posted laster year, was the foundation for this. I initially started this one at version 0.2, and wrote off that code. The code from that was the code I actually tore down my schools computer system with, and the way .bat files are written, it's untraceable, so they still haven't found out who did it. It was supposed to be a prank, until it actually worked, and me and my buddy were crapping our pants, as he was the one who had the idea, and I had the smarts to code it up.

The reason why I choose not to compile this into an .exe file is for a mulitude of reasons, with them being:

Traceable, usually from the source of download, with a type of address attached to it.
Less image customization options, making this look less authentic

Heance why it's not compiled yet. The only advantage to an .exe is that it can look it it's a normal program, but .bat files look suspicious. Essentially, .bat files advantages outway the advantages of .exes, another reason why it isn't compiled. I'm willing to make an exception, but I personally would rather not.

Also, if anyone would like to help porting over to Linux shell files (.sh), post below and I'll add you on to the crew!

Well I was basically wondering because of the possibility of reinstalling the OS via disc (i.e Booting from the disc)
